At York Regional Police (YRP), we believe that the future of policing should be shaped by the people who live it every day — from the frontline officers and civilian staff who serve five unique districts to the community members who live, work, and raise families across our region.

That’s why we’re inviting you to share your voice in this important survey to help us refresh YRP’s Vision and Mission. Your input will help guide how we serve, how we grow and how we build stronger, safer, more connected communities — together.

What This Survey is About 

This short, thoughtful survey invites your input on: 

  • What you believe matters most in modern policing 

  • What YRP’s top priorities should be in the coming years 

  • What an ideal police service should look and feel like 

  • What’s working — and where we can grow 

It also provides a quick overview of the core functions of Ontario’s police services and the principles that guide our work — so your feedback is informed, clear, and connected to what we do. 

Why This Matters 

A strong Vision and Mission aren’t just words on paper — they reflect shared values. The values of the people who wear the uniform, the people behind the scenes and the people we serve every single day. 

Whether you’ve worked at YRP for years, just moved into the region, or have thoughts on how we can do better — we want to hear from you.

This survey is for: 

  • York Regional Police staff — both sworn and civilian 

  • York Region residents 

  • Business owners and workers 

  • Students and young people 

  • Anyone who lives, works, studies or spends time in the region 

  • Everyone’s perspective matters — and the more voices we hear, the stronger our direction becomes.
